Michigan Gaming Control Board Announces Reappointment of Mark Evenson to Board
April 03, 2026
DETROIT, April 3, 2026 — The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) announced the reappointment of Mark Evenson, of South Lyon, to the Board for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2030, by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
Evenson currently serves as the chief financial officer of Diversified Members Credit Union. He previously served as chief financial officer at Cornerstone Community Financial and has a strong record of civic engagement, including service on the board of directors of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and as vice chair of the Novi Educational Foundation Board.
Evenson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in management from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Science in corporate finance from Walsh College.
“We are pleased that Mark will continue on the Board for another term,” said Henry Williams, Executive Director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board. “His financial expertise and deep commitment to public service make him an invaluable asset to our work. We look forward to continuing to benefit from his leadership and counsel as we carry out the mission to ensure fair and honest gaming across Michigan.”
The MGCB is responsible for implementing, administering, and enforcing the provisions of the law related to the licensure, regulation, and operations of the three authorized Detroit casinos — MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown. The agency also licenses and regulates internet gaming, internet sports betting, and fantasy contests; oversees pari-mutuel horse racing and casino-style charitable gaming (millionaire parties); and audits tribal gaming compact agreements for the state’s 12 federally recognized tribes.
The Board is comprised of five Michigan residents appointed by the Governor, with one member designated by the Governor as the chairperson. Under the Michigan Gaming Control & Revenue Act, no more than three members may belong to the same political party.
Three Board members are required to be in attendance and present at meetings in order to form a quorum to conduct regular business. The next meeting will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14 at Cadillac Place in Detroit.
Initially appointed by Gov. Whitmer on Sept. 10, 2024, Evenson will continue to serve as an MGCB Board Member alongside current Board members Deidre Lambert-Bounds, Andrew T. Palms, Joni M. Thrower Davis, and Board Chair Jim Ananich. His reappointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate.
