Museum and Historic Sites Friends Groups
The Michigan History Center is grateful to the following Friends Groups, which provide support and program at our museums and historic sites:
Friends of Fayette Historic Townsite
The Friends of Fayette Historic Townsite is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that formed in 2005 to raise public awareness and further the understanding, restoration and interpretation of Fayette Historic Townsite, located at Snail Shell Harbor on the beautiful Garden Peninsula.
You can become a supporter and Friend of Fayette Historic Townsite by making a donation. Complete and mail our Friends of Fayette Historic Townsite donor form.
Friends of Hartwick Pines
Friends of Hartwick Pines is a volunteer group of individuals interested in Michigan's logging-era history at Hartwick Pines Logging Museum in Grayling. Activities include quarterly meetings, educational/informational programs and fund raising.
The Friends of Hartwick Pines sponsor two weekend festivals every summer and an October/Halloween season Forest Critters program, and manage the museum store in the Forest Visitor Center at Hartwick Pines State Park. The Friends of Hartwick Pines also raised funds to restore the steam-powered traction engine that operates the working sawmill exhibit on the park grounds.
Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse and State Park
Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse and State Park is a volunteer group of individuals interested in the natural environment and cultural history of Tawas Point Lighthouse in East Tawas.
You can support the efforts of the Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse and State Park either by joining the group or by making a donation. Download the Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse and State Park form, print and then return as directed.
Friends of Walker Tavern
The Friends of Walker Tavern formed in 2006 to help further the mission of Walker Tavern Historic Site in Lenawee County. Already, the group has made a positive impact on Walker Tavern and the community.
