Kimberly Hurst is a Certified Physician Assistant and Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner. She is the founder and Executive Director of the Avalon Healing Center, a comprehensive sexual assault center in Detroit, MI. She has specialized in sports and emergency medicine, trauma, and sexual violence for over 23 years. She received her Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University in Exercise Science, her Master of Arts in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota, and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Wayne State University. She has worked in Detroit, Michigan her entire professional career. Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, was a Certified Athletic Trainer.
Kimberly has served on numerous work groups and think tanks on behalf of the issues surrounding sexual assault, human trafficking, and abuse at the local, state, and national levels. She is heavily involved in education and training to the community, as well as to other professionals working with survivors of sexual violence. She is a sought-after speaker and consultant at the state, national, and international levels. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with family and friends, and spends her free time with her teenage boys and their travel sports.
