Goals
MHTC Goals for 2024-2025
Overall Goals
- Update website, make it a central spot for everything HT related in Michigan, with others being able to link their websites to ours to make it more accessible and efficient for those in need of services, information, trainings, and funding;
- Podcast on Human trafficking;
- Sponsor student journalism with the MAB;
- Create a Logo;
- Update educational programing and trainings; and
- Have representation from every county in the State.
Committee Goals
Funding and Resources
- Raise $50,000 for programing this year (education program, podcast, PSAs, literature, logo contest, lived experience expert pay for assistance); and
- Find grants and available resources for those working in this space and update them on the Website.
Data Collection and Research
- Create a survey to send out to medical facilities, law enforcement agencies, prosecutors offices, schools, etc. to answer the following or more:
- Extent of human trafficking in Michigan;
- Extent of awareness of resources; and
- What is the greatest need in Michigan to prevent human trafficking.
Training and Education
- Create an educational program for school age children;
- Create a Labor Trafficking training for law enforcement;
- Update ALL trainings on the website; and
- Ensure that every aspect of training is available on the website.
Public Awareness
- Create PSAs about human trafficking;
- Create literature about Human trafficking; and
- MHTC Logo contest.
Victim Services
- Find all the available services for victims/survivors and update the website; and
- Evaluate where the needs of survivors/victims are not being met and make recommendations.
Policy and Legislation
- Find all relevant laws and rules/regulations regarding HT in the State and Federal and put on the website;
- Evaluate all the relevant laws and regulations and see where improvements can and should be made and make recommendations; and
- Evaluate where Michigan stands in relations to the other 50 states and even other countries and make recommendations.
