Brimley Man Arrested for Child Sexually Abusive Activity

The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is announcing the arrest of Jerred David McCoy, 28 of Brimley, for child sexually abusive activity – aggravated and using a computer to commit a crime.

McCoy was arrested by US Marshals in West Virginia following an investigation which was initiated when it was learned McCoy was viewing child sexually abusive material online. A search of his Brimley residence resulted in digital evidence being seized.

McCoy was charged with two counts of child sexually abusive activity – aggravated, seven counts of child sexually abusive material – aggravated possession, and eight counts of using a computer to commit a crime. McCoy was arraigned in the 91st District Court on Friday, December 12.

If convicted, McCoy faces up to twenty-five years in prison for each count of child sexually abusive activity – aggravated, and up to twenty years in prison for using a computer to commit a crime.

The MSP Computer Crimes Unit was assisted by the 7th District Fugitive Team, the US Marshals Service, and the US Attorney General’s Office.
