Jackson Resident Arrested for Aggravated Child Sexually Abusive Activity

JACKSON, MICH. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is announcing the arrest of Mark Gibson, 45 of Jackson, for aggravated child sexually abusive activity, aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and using a computer to commit a crime.

Gibson was arrested following an investigation which was initiated when a cyber tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). A search warrant was conducted at Gibson’s residence where digital evidence was seized. 

Gibson was charged with one count of aggravated child sexually abusive activity – distributing or promoting, one count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Gibson was arraigned in the 12th District Court in Jackson on Thursday, July 9. 

If convicted, Gibson faces up to 20 years in prison for aggravated child sexually abusive activity and up to 15 years in prison for using a computer to commit a crime.

The Michigan ICAC Task Force was assisted by Blackman Township Public Safety, Ann Arbor Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Michigan Department of Corrections.
