David Sanchez, Wayne County
David brings extensive experience in public engagement, advocacy, and community service. Born and raised in Southwest Detroit's Hispanic-Latino community, he began his advocacy journey in 2015 at the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation. Currently, as Senior Director of External Relations & Advocacy at The Children's Center, he leads advocacy and communications strategies that advance the agency’s mission of providing mental health and well-being for youth in Metro Detroit. His former roles have included leadership positions with Senator Mary Cavanagh, Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, and Planned Parenthood of Michigan, where he played a key role in passing the Reproductive Health Act. He also serves on the board of Latin Americans for Social and Economic Development (LA SED). David holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
