The Michigan LGBTQ+ Commission, stands as a beacon of advocacy, inclusion and celebration for Michigan's diverse LGBTQ+ community. The commission's charge is to ensure equal representation, amplify voices and foster a state where everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, feels affirmed and valued.
The 15-member council will advise the department on issues relating to the Arab and Chaldean communities in Michigan and promote awareness of their culture and history

Al Gray (they/them), of Marquette, is a fully licensed clinical social worker (LMSW-C) at Suunta Integrative Health, LLC. They also volunteer as a mental health provider with Stand with Trans of Michigan and serve on the board of directors for Upper Peninsula Rainbow Pride, 501(c)3. Al holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and sociology and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Northern Michigan University. They are being appointed to represent rural communities for a term commencing November 30, 2023, and expiring on November 29, 2027.
