Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission (MAPAAC) statement on the swearing-in of Mai Xiong
May 06, 2024
Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission (MAPAAC) would like to formally acknowledge the swearing-in of Mai Xiong as a Michigan State Representative in the 102nd Legislature of the Michigan House of Representatives. Representative Xiong will serve the constituents of House District 13, which includes Warren and parts of Detroit.
Mai Xiong's recent election victory in the special election, which restored a two-seat majority for Democrats in the House, represents a significant moment in Michigan's political landscape. Her win not only fills a critical vacancy but also signifies progress towards greater diversity and representation within our state government. As the first Hmong American elected to the Michigan Legislature, Representative Xiong's historic milestone underscores the positive direction of our state.
MAPAAC extends our acknowledgment to Representative Mai Xiong on this historic achievement. We anticipate witnessing Representative Xiong's advocacy and leadership in advancing the interests and welfare of all Michiganders.
