Wexford area of interest PFAS self-sampling investigation townhall
Cadillac-area residents are invited to attend an in-person community meeting. This is an opportunity to learn about the investigation of PFAS contamination in private drinking water wells located in several townships and cities across Wexford County.
In late 2024 and into early 2025, the Michigan PFAS Action Response Team (MPART) conducted residential well sampling in the Cadillac area. Many residents outside the defined boundaries of investigation areas sampled their own drinking water wells and shared their results with MPART and agency staff. While many of the self-samples were non-detect or had low level detections, numerous results were above Michigan’s drinking water criteria for PFAS.
State and local agencies will provide information and answer questions from residents during the meeting.
Accommodations deadline: Individuals needing language assistance or accommodations for effective participation at the meeting should contact Kelly Ploehn at PloehnK@Michigan.gov or 517-897-4670 by May 22nd, 2025 to request language, mobility, visual, hearing, translation, and/or other assistance.
