Ford Milan (Milan, Monroe and Washtenaw County)

Ford Milan is a 114-acre parcel located at 800 County Street and was formerly used by Ford for automotive manufacturing and disposal of hazardous waste from injection, blow and compression molding of thermoset plastic and thermoplastic materials. The site is currently a storage facility and the hazardous waste related generation has been closed. Several groundwater monitoring wells were sampled for PFAS in 2024 and 2025, the highest of which had 39 ppt PFOA (compared to 8 ppt) and 30 ppt PFOS (compared to 16 ppt). These samples were taken from the shallow aquifer. Samples taken from the deeper aquifer were non-detect. Data suggests groundwater flow is to the east.

Drinking water information

While perimeter wells installed by Ford do not show contaminated groundwater has migrated off the site, EGLE, MDHHS, and local health have reviewed residential well logs and developed a plan to sample nearby drinking water wells out of an abundance of caution. Identified well owners will receive a letter in the mail requesting access to sample drinking water. This sampling will occur in early 2026.
