Millions in Federal Funding Available to Michigan Communities and Organizations Exploring Infrastructure Projects
The Michigan Infrastructure Office Technical Assistance Center opens application window to help entities bring home transformational federal grant funding
LANSING, Mich.—The Michigan Infrastructure Office (MIO) Technical Assistance Center (TAC) is opening its fourth application window in 2025 to help communities access millions of dollars in federal grant funding. Infrastructure projects eligible for this application window include bridge updates, airport improvements, passenger ferry expansion, brownfield redevelopment training and railroad crossings.
The TAC has supported over 68 infrastructure projects across Michigan in accessing federal funding opportunities by offering technical assistance and matching grants to local governments, tribal entities and other eligible organizations. In the fourth application window, the TAC will provide consulting services to identify appropriate grants, assist with grant writing and offer technical responses, including benefit-cost analysis, as well as project matching assistance.
“By leveraging federal funding opportunities, Michigan is ensuring its residents have access to safer, more connected and sustainable communities while strengthening our state’s economy, infrastructure and quality of life,” said TAC Director Kris Brady. “We encourage any community or organization interested in exploring transformational infrastructure projects to contact the Michigan Infrastructure Office Technical Assistance Center. Navigating federal programs can be difficult, but we are here to help.”
The fourth application window will remain open from Friday, Aug. 8 to Friday, Aug. 22 at 11:59 p.m. The TAC is hosting a live webinar at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14 to help communities better understand technical assistance, the grant opportunities available and the application process.
Since 2021, Michigan has secured more than $13 billion in federal funding to enhance roads, bridges, public transit, water infrastructure and broadband access. These investments are improving communities across the state by creating good-paying jobs, addressing long-standing inequities and building resilient infrastructure for generations to come.
To apply for technical assistance, register to attend a webinar, or learn more about grant opportunities available in your community, please visit the MIO Technical Assistance Center.

MIO TAC is offering technical assistance for grants we anticipate becoming available late-Summer/early Fall, 2025. Not all NOFOs are published at time of Window opening. We are selecting grants that we anticipate NOFOs being released. Potential applicants can review past NOFOs and TAC Fact Sheets but note that new NOFOs are expected to update criteria based on current federal priorities. As they are released, TAC will link applicable NOFOs on its website and update Fact Sheets. Please also refer to grants.gov and other source material for the latest information on NOFOs.
ABOUT THE MICHIGAN INFRASTRUCTURE OFFICE
The MIO is responsible for organizing and executing Governor Whitmer’s vision for infrastructure, coordinating across state government, marshaling resources, and partnering with local officials, federal partners, and outside stakeholders to ensure resources sent to Michigan through BIL, also known as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), are used efficiently and effectively.
