Gov. Whitmer Announces Winners of 2026 State of the State Art and Writing Contests
LANSING, Mich. -- Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the winners of the 2026 State of the State art and writing contests, recognizing the outstanding young Michiganders whose creativity and talent will be featured as part of this year’s address.
“Each year, the State of State is an opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come and where we’re headed next,” said Governor Whitmer. “This year, I wanted to make sure that young Michiganders were part of that story. Brooke, Amelie, and our talented runners-up reminded us why our future is so bright – because it is powered by creativity, compassion, and pride in our great state. Their work captures the spirit of Michigan and the limitless potential of the next generation.”
Brooke C., a 12th grader at Bay City Western High School in Bay City, is the winner of the 2026 State of the State Art Contest. Brooke’s artwork, centered on the theme “Michigan’s Bright Future,” will be featured on the cover of the official program book for Wednesday’s State of the State address.
