Governor Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Central Michigan University Board of Trustees
David McGhee, of Grand Blanc, is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. Previously, McGhee served as the chief executive officer of The Steve Fund, chief strategy and program officer of the Schultz Family Foundation, and vice president of organizational excellence and impact at The Skillman Foundation. McGhee serves on the faculty of the Institute for Nonprofit Practice, where he is the senior fellow for the city of Detroit. McGhee is also a past board chair of Learn Fresh and a former board member and past president of the Flint Public Library Board of Trustees. McGhee holds a Bachelor of Science in public administration and public policy from Oakland University and a Master of Science in administration leadership from Central Michigan University. David McGhee will be reappointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034.
Ryan Fewins-Bliss, of Bath, is the executive director of the Michigan College Access Network. Fewins-Bliss serves as Bath Township supervisor and the Michigan Education Corps Advisory Board. Fewins-Bliss holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in integrative public relations and a Master of Arts in educational administration from Central Michigan University. Ryan Fewins-Bliss will be appointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Fewins-Bliss will succeed Edward Plawecki, whose term will expire.

Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents
Kirk Profit, of Ann Arbor, is a former state legislator and the former co-owner of Governmental Consulting Services, Inc. Profit holds a Bachelor of Science in philosophy and political science from Eastern Michigan University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy. Kirk Profit will be appointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Profit will succeed Chad Newton, whose term will expire.
Chris Kaufman, of Detroit, is the co-founder of StockX. Kaufman holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Eastern Michigan University, a Master of Fine Arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and a Master of Science in learning and organizational change from Northwestern University. Chris Kaufman will be appointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Kaufman will succeed Mike Hawks, whose term will expire.

Ferris State University Board of Trustees
Lee Graham, of Holly, is the executive director of the Operating Engineers 324 Labor Management Education Committee. Additionally, Graham serves as chairman of the Michigan Apprenticeship Steering Committee Inc. and on the advisory board for the Michigan Department of Transportation, the Michigan Workforce Development Board, and the Michigan Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education Advisory Council. Lee Graham will be appointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Graham will succeed Michael Ryan, whose term will expire.

Grand Valley State University Board of Trustees
Ryan Irvin, of Okemos, is the co-founder of Change Media Group. Irvin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in business economics from Grand Valley State University and a Juris Doctor from the Michigan State University College of Law. Ryan Irvin will be appointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Irvin will succeed Elizabeth Emmitt, whose term will expire.
Kevin Polston, of Grand Haven, is the superintendent of Kentwood Public Schools, a role he has served in since 2021. His previous superintendent experience included four years at Godfrey-Lee Public Schools in Wyoming. Prior to becoming a superintendent, he served as a teacher, coach, principal, and curriculum leader at Grand Haven Area Public Schools for fifteen years. Polston holds a Bachelor of Arts in education from Michigan State University, a Master of Education in educational leadership and an education specialist degree from Grand Valley State University, and is also a doctoral candidate in educational leadership at Central Michigan University. Kevin Polston will be appointed to for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Polston will succeed Susan Jandernoa, whose term will expire.

Michigan Technological University Board of Trustees
Christine Roberts, of Traverse City, was the senior vice president and general manager of software sales and services for Poly, Inc. Currently, Roberts sits on the boards of Impact100 Traverse City and Netwon’s Road, a nonprofit dedicated to STEM-related learning for all youth in the Traverse City Region. Christine Roberts will be appointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Roberts will succeed Jeffrey Littmann, whose term will expire.

Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees
Glenn Stevens, Jr., of Royal Oak, is the executive director of MichAuto and serves as the Detroit Regional Chamber’s chief automotive and innovation officer and is a native of Marquette. Stevens holds a Bachelor of Science in economics and a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University. Glenn Stevens will be appointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Stevens will succeed Stephen Young, whose term will expire.
Susan Corbin, of Petoskey, is the Director of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. Corbin holds a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from Michigan State University. Susan Corbin will be appointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Corbin will succeed Melissa Holmquist, whose term will expire.

Oakland University Board of Trustees
Shelley Davis-Boyd, of East Lansing, is the chief operations officer of M3 Group. Previously, Davis-Boyd was the director of communications, marketing, and public relations for the Michigan Association of School Boards. Additionally, Davis-Boyd serves on the East Lansing Library Board of Trustees. Davis-Boyd holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baker College and a Master of Business Administration from Northwood University. Shelley Davis-Boyd will be appointed for a term commencing August 12, 2026, and expiring August 11th, 2034. Davis-Boyd will succeed Dennis Muchmore, whose term will expire.
Nate Engle, of Lansing, is the director of community engagement for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Engle previously served as director of community engagement for the Executive Office of Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Engle holds a Bachelor of Science in urban and regional planning from Michigan State University and a Master of Public Administration from Grand Valley State University. Engle is a 2025 Eisenhower Fellow. Nate Engle will be appointed for a term commencing March 5, 2026, and expiring August 11th, 2028. Engle will succeed Joseph Jones, who has resigned.

Western Michigan University Board of Trustees
Ronda Stryker, of Richland, is a director of Stryker Corp and a vice chair and director of Greenleaf Trust. Additionally, Stryker is vice-chair of the Spelman College Board of Trustees. Stryker holds a Bachelor of Arts in special education from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master of Arts from Western Michigan University. Ronda Stryker will be appointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Stryker will succeed Shelly Edgerton, whose term will expire.
Amy Zaagman, of East Lansing, is the executive director of the Michigan Council for Maternal and Child Health. Additionally, Zaagman serves on the East Lansing Library Board of Trustees. Zaagman holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in finance and economics and a Master of Public Administration from Western Michigan University. Amy Zaagman will be appointed for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2034. Zaagman will succeed Lynn Chen-Zhang, whose term will expire.

Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board
Chris MacInnes, of Beulah, is the president of Crystal Mountain, Michigan. MacInnes holds a Bachelor of Arts in German from St. Lawrence University in New York. Chris MacInnes will be reappointed for a term commencing October 2, 2026, and expiring October 1, 2030.
The Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board oversees the Michigan Natural Resource Trust Fund (MNRTF) which has been in place since 1976. The Trust Fund provides financial assistance to local governments and the Department of Natural Resources to purchase land or rights in land for public recreation or protection of land because of its environmental importance or its scenic beauty. It also assists in the appropriate development of land for public outdoor recreation.

Michigan State Transportation Commission
Glenn Bukoski, of Metamora, is the former vice president of engineering services for the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association. Bukoski holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University and an associate degree in civil technology from Lansing Community College. Glenn Bukoski will be reappointed for a term commencing December 22, 2026, and expiring December 21, 2029.
The Commission establishes policy for the Michigan Department of Transportation in relation to transportation programs and facilities and other such works as related to transportation development, as provided by law. Responsibilities of the Commission include the development and implementation of comprehensive transportation plans for the entire state, including aeronautics, bus and rail transit, providing professional and technical assistance, and overseeing the administration of state and federal funds allocated for these programs.

Michigan Civil Rights Commission
Rosann Barker, of Detroit, is the chief operating officer at Conner Creek Life Solutions. Barker holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Marygrove College and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Siena Heights University. Rosann Barker will be reappointed as a Democrat for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2030.
Regina Gasco, of Petoskey, is the former tribal chairperson of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, and previously served as secretary and legislative leader for the Little Traverse Bay Bands Tribal Council. Gasco is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan, Inc. Regina Gasco will be reappointed as an Independent for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2030.
The Michigan Civil Rights Commission was created by the Michigan Constitution of 1963 to safeguard constitutional and legal guarantees against discrimination. The Commission is charged with investigating alleged discrimination against any person on the basis of that person’s inclusion in a protected class.

Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors
Alissa Roath, of Chelsea, is the chief executive officer of the National Advanced Mobility Consortium and serves as vice president of the Women in Defense Michigan Chapter. Roath also previously served as the director of consortium administrative organization services for the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences. Roath holds a Bachelor of Arts in art history from Wayne State University. Alissa Roath is appointed to represent the private sector for a term commencing March 5, 2026, and expiring July 31, 2027. Roath succeeds Cindy Warner, who has resigned.
The Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors was created by Executive Order No. 2019-13. The Board’s responsibilities include approval of the use of private activity bonds, authorizing the submittal by local governments of Community Development Block Grant applications, and approval of Tool and Die Renaissance Recovery Zones.

Michigan Education Trust Board of Directors
Tarek Sobh, of Southfield, is the president of Lawrence Technological University. Sobh serves as on the boards of the Michigan College Access Network, the Michigan Independent Colleges and Universities, and Automation Alley, and also serves as president of the Association of Independent Technological Universities. Sobh holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Alexandria University and both a Master of Science in Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy in computer and information science from the University of Pennsylvania. Tarek Sobh will be appointed to represent the interests of private colleges for a term commencing July 1, 2026, and expiring December 31, 2029. Sobh succeeds Richard Pappas, who is resigning effective June 30, 2026.
Madalene “Maddy” Day, of Kalamazoo, is the proprietor of Maddy Day, LLC, where she serves as a consultant, trainer, and leadership coach to nonprofit organizations, philanthropies, and state agencies focused on improving the lives of those who have been impacted by foster care, homelessness, and those who are furthest from access and opportunity. Day holds a Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Washington. Day is a member of the Michigan College Access Network Board of Directors and chair of the Kalamazoo Department of Health and Human Services Board. Madalene Day will be reappointed as the vice president of the Michigan Education Trust and as a person with knowledge, skills, and experience in the academic, business, or financial fields for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2029.
The Michigan Education Trust (MET) is a qualified tuition program which provides tax exemption for the trust and tax exemption of earnings for contract participants who use MET funds to pay for qualified higher education expenses. The MET Board of Directors are responsible for policy development, investment initiatives, program development and implementation. The MET Board of Directors also serve as an advisory board for the Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP).

Michigan Finance Authority Board of Directors
Timothy Hoffman, of Douglas, is the retired executive director of regulatory affairs for Consumers Energy. Hoffman holds a Bachelor of Arts in political economy from Hillsdale College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law. Timothy Hoffman will be reappointed as an Independent and resident of the state for a term commencing October 1, 2026, and expiring September 30, 2030.
Wesley “Drew” Smith, of Ann Arbor, is the interim vice president for finance of the University of Michigan. Drew has served as the deputy chief financial officer and head of treasury for the City of Boston and as deputy assistant treasurer for debt management for the Massachusetts State Treasury. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Arkansas. Wesley Smith will be reappointed as a Democrat and resident of the state with experience in education issues for a term commencing October 1, 2026, and expiring September 30, 2030.
The Michigan Finance Authority provides effective, low-cost options to finance the acquisition, construction, improvement, or alteration of land, facilities, equipment, the payment of project costs, or to refinance existing debt. The Authority accomplishes this by working with municipalities, schools, healthcare providers, colleges and universities, and college students.

Mackinac Straits Corridor Authority
Kimberly Webb, of Chesterfield, is the associate vice president and municipal transportation practice leader at HNTB and operates a bakery, Kim’s Creative Creations. Prior to this Webb had a thirty-three-year career with the Michigan Department of Transportation, most recently as the director of the metro region. Webb serves as a member of the civic engineering advisory boards for Lawrence Technological University and Wayne State University. Webb holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Valparaiso University and is a licensed professional engineer. Kimberly Webb will be reappointed as a Democrat for a term commencing December 13, 2026, and expiring December 12, 2030.
Ruth Hepfer, of Crystal, currently works as independent infrastructure consultant. Previously, Hepfer worked as an engineer at Fishbeck and for the Federal Highway Administration for over 20 years as an environmental and real estate specialist and engineer. Hepfer holds an associate degree in mathematics and science from Lansing Community College and a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Michigan State University. Ruth Hepfer will be reappointed as a Republican for a term commencing December 13, 2026, and expiring December 12, 2030.
Regine Beauboeuf, of Bloomfield Hills, is the chief executive officer of American Roads, the operator of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. Previously, Beauboeuf held senior leadership roles at HNTB, Fishbeck, Parsons, and the Michigan Department of Transportation. Beauboeuf is a licensed professional engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the National University of Haiti and a Master of Business Administration from Davenport University. Regine Beauboeuf will be appointed as a Democrat for a term commencing December 13, 2026, and expiring December 12, 2030. Beauboeuf succeeds Paul Novak, whose term will expire.
The Mackinac Straits Corridor Authority (MSCA) oversees the construction and operation of a tunnel in the bedrock beneath the waters of the Straits of Mackinac. The tunnel will house a replacement segment for the Line 5 petroleum pipelines that currently sit on the bottom of the Straits and will accommodate other utilities to improve infrastructure connections between the peninsulas. MSCA will own the tunnel after its construction and provide independent oversight throughout its life.

Michigan Women’s Commission
Dr. Sabala Mandava, of Bloomfield Hills, is the chair of the Department of Radiology at Henry Ford Health. Dr. Mandava is a senior member of the radiology department and previously was the head of breast imaging at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Mandava holds a Doctor of Medicine from Guntur Medical College and completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Michigan State University and a fellowship in women’s imaging at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Sabala Mandava will be reappointed for a term commencing July 16, 2026, and expiring July 15, 2029.
Misti Rice, of Rochester Hills, is the vice president of government affairs at Magna International. Rice previously held senior roles in government affairs at Stellantis (formerly FCA). Rice holds a Bachelor of Arts in social work from Northeastern State University, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa. Misti Rice will be reappointed for a term commencing July 16, 2026, and expiring July 15, 2029.
Faye Nelson, of Grosse Pointe Woods, a retired executive, currently serves as board chair of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Corewell Health East. Nelson holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Mercy College of Detroit and a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit School of Law. Faye Nelson will be reappointed for a term commencing July 16, 2026, and expiring July 15, 2029.
Vivian Pickard, of Grand Blanc, is the president and chief executive officer of Pickard, LLC. Pickard was formerly president of the General Motors Foundation. Pickard holds a Bachelor of Arts in human services management from Ferris State University, a Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University, and an honorary doctorate from Ferris State University. Vivian Pickard will be reappointed for a term commencing July 16, 2026, and expiring July 15, 2029.
Maria Martinez, of Grosse Pointe, is a deputy chief of staff in the Executive Office of Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Martinez previously served as chief compliance officer and as deputy legal counsel in the Executive Office of the Governor. Martinez has experience as a former in-house counsel at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and working as a litigator at Bodman, PLC, a Detroit-based law firm. Martinez holds a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and language from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School. Maria Martinez will be appointed for a term commencing July 16, 2026, and expiring July 15, 2029. Martinez succeeds Danielle Atkinson, whose term will expire.
The Michigan Women's Commission was created by statute in 1968. The Commission's duties include reviewing the status of women in Michigan, directing attention to critical problems confronting women, and recognizing women's accomplishments and contributions to Michigan.

Unemployment Insurance Appeals Commission
Hillary Rousseau, of Detroit, is an administrative law judge in the Michigan Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules, working on unemployment insurance agency adjudications. Previously, Rousseau was an assistant prosecuting attorney in the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. Rousseau holds a Bachelor of Arts in public communications and cultural studies from the University of Michigan – Dearborn and a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Hillary Rousseau will be appointed for a term commencing April 11, 2026, and expiring July 31, 2029. Rousseau will succeed Sheryl McGrath, who is resigning.
The Unemployment Insurance Appeals Commission serves Michigan's employees, employers, and insurers by addressing and impartially resolving appeals of decisions and orders involving workers' compensation and unemployment insurance benefits. The Commission created in Executive Order No. 2019-13 has full authority to handle, process, and decide appeals filed under Michigan Employment Security Act Section 33(2).

Michigan Travel Commission
Marc Rehmann, of East Lansing, is the operator of Ed Rehmann and Sons, a family-run outdoor and workwear store. Rehmann holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Michigan State University and a Juris Doctor from the Michigan State University College of Law. Marc Rehmann will be appointed as an individual with experience in travel, tourism and the recreation industry or an associated field, and as an operator of a small for-profit business, for a term commencing August 21, 2026, and expiring August 20, 2030. Rehmann will succeed Glenn Stevens, whose term will expire.
Brian Decorah, of Byron Center, is the senior vice president and general manager of Gun Lake Casino Resort. Decorah holds a Bachelor of Science in public relations from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and a Master of Business Administration in marketing and finance from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. Brian Decorah will be appointed as an individual with experience in travel, tourism and recreation industry or an associated field, and as an operator of a for-profit business, for a term commencing August 21, 2026, and expiring August 20, 2030. Decorah will succeed Frank Tecumseh, whose term will expire.
Hayley Ennest, of Kalamazoo, is the owner of 13 Cookies, a retail cookie shop in Portage. Ennest previously worked as a technical assistant for the Kalamazoo RESA culinary arts career training program and has worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years. Hayley Ennest will be reappointed as an individual with experience in travel, tourism and recreation industry or an associated field, and as an owner of a small for-profit business, for a term commencing August 21, 2026, and expiring August 20, 2030.
The Travel Commission was established to promote, maintain, and develop the orderly growth of the Michigan travel product. The Commission assists the Michigan Travel Bureau with the development of a comprehensive long-range master plan, annually assesses the activities and accomplishments of the Michigan Travel Bureau and works to the maximum extent practicable with those private associations, nonprofit corporations, organizations, or other private entities which promote tourism in this state.

Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals
Scott Williams, of Gobles, is the environment, health, and safety manager and compliance manager for Meijer. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering and network administration from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Science in occupational safety and health from Columbia Southern University. Scott Williams is appointed to represent management in the general industry for a term commencing March 5, 2026, and expiring March 18, 2030.
Matthew Uptmor, of Saginaw, is the director of the health and safety and national veterans' affairs departments and an administrative assistant to the president’s office for the United Auto Workers. Uptmor also is a senior firefighter for the Kochville Township Fire Department. Uptmor holds an associate degree in criminal justice from Delta College. Matthew Uptmor will be reappointed to represent labor in the general industry for a term commencing March 19, 2026, and expiring March 18, 2030.
The Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals reviews all contested Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) cases involving safety and health citations, orders, and appeals. The Board may order testimony at hearings, compel witnesses or require depositions, and further promulgates rules of procedure for hearings, maintaining consistency with any federal occupation safety or health standard.

Certificate of Need Commission
Amy Engelhardt-Kalbfleisch, of Clarkston, is chief medical officer at Henry Ford Hospital. Engelhardt-Kalbfleisch holds a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Michigan State University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Certificate of Need (CON) Commission has the responsibility to develop, approve, disapprove, or revise CON Review Standards that are used by the CON Program Section to issue decisions on CON applications. The Commission evaluates the Review Standards for modification on a three-year rotating schedule as identified in the Commission Workplan. The Commission also has the authority to make recommendations to revise the list of covered clinical services subject to CON review.

Gregory Sobczyk, of Commerce Township, is the administrative director of health care for the University of Michigan School of Medicine and School of Dentistry. Previously, Sobczyk was the administrative officer of surgical services at the John D. Dingell Detroit VA Healthcare System. Sobczyk served in the United States Navy as a fleet marine force corpsman and is a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. Sobczyk holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Wayne State University, a Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Services Administration from University of Detroit Mercy, and a Doctor of Philosophy in business leadership from Capella University. Greg Sobczyk will be appointed as a member with professional knowledge, skill, or experience in long-term care, health care licensure or finance, or medicine who represents the interests of one or more congressionally chartered veterans’ organizations for a term commencing April 16, 2026, and expiring April 15, 2030. Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards
Chief Issa Shahin, of Dearborn, is the chief of police for the Dearborn Police Department and has been with the department since 1998. Shahin holds a Bachelor of Science in political science and Master of Science in homeland security and emergency management, and completed the School of Police Staff and Command executive leadership program, all at Eastern Michigan University. Chief Issa Shahin will be reappointed to represent the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2030.
Matthew Hartig, of Marshall, is a corrections deputy sheriff with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department and a part-time firefighter for the City of Marshall. Hartig holds a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Olivet College. Matthew Hartig will be reappointed to represent the Deputy Sheriff's Association of Michigan for a term commencing January 1, 2027, and expiring December 31, 2030.

Governor's Traffic Safety Advisory Commission
Jeff King, of Bloomfield Hills, is the Bloomfield Hills director of public safety. Previously, King was the chief of police for the Farmington Hills Police Department. Jeff King will be reappointed as a representative of local government for a term commencing May 28, 2026, and expiring May 27, 2029.
The Governor's Traffic Safety Advisory Commission shall identify traffic safety challenges and develop, promote, and implement strategies to address those challenges. The Commission shall develop comprehensive solutions to traffic safety challenges through partnerships with all levels of government and the private sector, while maximizing and coordinating the use of existing financial resources.

Justin Horvath, of Owosso, is the president and chief executive officer of the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership. The Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission is the successor to the Michigan Boxing Commission and is responsible for the regulation of professional boxing and mixed martial arts. The Commission and the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs are vested with management, control, and jurisdiction over all professional boxing, professional or amateur mixed martial arts, or unarmed combat contests or events conducted in this state.

The Michigan Board of Marriage and Family Therapy was created to license and regulate the practice of marriage and family therapy in Michigan, which is the provision of guidance, testing, discussions, therapy, instruction, or advice that is intended to avoid, eliminate, relieve, manage, or resolve marital or family conflict or discord, to create, improve, or restore marital or family harmony, or to prepare couples for marriage. Underlying all duties is the responsibility of the Board to promote and protect the public's health, safety, and welfare.

Barrier Free Design Board
Paul Ecklund, of Portage, is an ADA specialist and systems advocate at the Disability Network for Southwest Michigan. Ecklund holds a Bachelor of Science in environmental studies from the University of Iowa and a Master of Arts in clinical mental health from Western Michigan University. Paul Ecklund will be reappointed as a physically limited individual for a term commencing October 31, 2026, and expiring October 31, 2029.
Tyler Smeltekop, of Ingham, is an assistant director for assistive technology innovation at Michigan State University. Smeltekop holds a Bachelor of Arts in professional and technical writing from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts in library and information science from Wayne State University. Tyler Smeltekop will be reappointed as a physically limited individual for a term commencing November 1, 2026, and expiring October 31, 2029.
Ronald Campbell, of Davison, is the principal planner and preservation architect for Oakland County. Campbell holds a Bachelor of Science in architecture and a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan. Ronald Campbell will be reappointed as a registered architect for a term commencing November 1, 2026, and expiring October 31, 2029.
The Barrier Free Design Board has the responsibility to receive, review, and process requests for exceptions to the barrier free design specifications, and requires appropriate equivalent alternatives when exceptions are granted. The Board receives, processes, and makes recommendations for barrier free design rules.

State Boundary Commission
Linda Preston, of Dowagiac, is the township supervisor for Pokagon Township. Preston holds a Bachelor of Arts in human and environmental design from Michigan State University. Linda Preston will be reappointed for a term commencing November 16, 2026, and expiring November 15, 2029.
The State Boundary Commission is responsible for administering the State Boundary Commission Act and portions of the Home Rule City Act and the Home Rule Village Act. The Commission serves as a quasi-judicial body adjudicating many types of municipal boundary adjustments and recommends, to the Director of the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the approval or denial of petitions for incorporations of new Home Rule Cities, new Home Rule Villages, and municipal consolidations. The Commission also recommends approval or denial of certain types of petitions involving land currently under township jurisdiction that is proposed to be annexed into a Home Rule City.
