WHEREAS, Andy Isaac was a beloved member of the Detroit sports community, a passionate supporter of the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, and his alma mater, Michigan State University, and a beacon of positivity and camaraderie among fans; and,

WHEREAS, Andy Isaac fought a courageous decades-long battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, all the while maintaining a spirit of kindness, humor, and unwavering enthusiasm for the teams and city he loved; and,

WHEREAS, through his presence on social media, Andy cultivated a space of connection and encouragement, bringing people together through his witty commentary, uplifting posts, and weekly celebrations of life’s small joys, often asking his followers, “Tell me something good that happened to you recently”; and, 

WHEREAS, Andy Isaac’s tradition of #Faturday, the ultimate sports and food-filled Saturday, became a cherished ritual where he passionately highlighted the vibrant food culture of Metro Detroit and indulged in game-day favorites, supporting local restaurants and sharing meals with a wide audience; and,

WHEREAS, whether you’re grabbing wings from Sweetwater Tavern, Detroit-style pizza from Michigan & Trumbull, a Blizzard from Dairy Queen, coney dogs, or your favorite desserts, Faturday is about gathering with friends and family, rooting for your favorite teams, and treating yourself; and, 

WHEREAS, Faturday celebrates not only a passion for food but also the vibrant fan culture that defines Michigan’s sporting spirit and brings Michiganders together;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim Saturday, March 8, 2025, as Faturday in Michigan in honor of Andy Isaac. I encourage all to celebrate his memory by supporting local restaurants, enjoying your favorite food, and sharing in the spirit of community he so wholeheartedly embraced. #FaturdayForever.
