  • Application Process:

    Once your application has been submitted, the next steps of the process will include review of your application to ensure you meet the minimum requirements, an oral interview, and if selected, a conditional offer of employment. The selection process will be completed as expeditiously as possible and can range between four weeks to six months depending on an array of variables. 

    Some positions may require additional testing and will be described in the job description of the application. Appointment into the position will require passing a background check and drug screening.

    Emergency Dispatcher

    An Emergency Dispatcher is an essential and crucial part of the law enforcement team. They are responsible for responding to radio/telephone inquiries at regional communication facilities from public safety personnel and the general public concerning complaints, emergency situations, and criminal activity.

    Forensic Scientist

    A forensic scientist is a fundamental part of the law enforcement team. An MSP forensic scientist performs a variety of tests; identification and classification of mechanical devices; analyses of chemical, biochemical, biological, liquids and physical substances for criminal prosecutions submitted by law enforcement.

    Departmental Analyst

    Departmental analysts work in many areas of the department and perform a variety of assignments in support of departmental programs and services. The duties of an analyst vary depending on bureau or division, they may complete or oversee a variety of professional research and analysis assignments for the purpose of evaluation, assessment, planning, development, and implementation of various departmental programs or services.

    Departmental Technician

    Departmental technicians work in many areas of the department and perform a variety of assignments in support of departmental programs and services. Depending on the bureau or division, the technician may conduct feasibility studies, work with criminal intelligence data, read and evaluate documents and processes, compile crime statistics, or monitor financial data.
