New Video Spotlights MSP Forensic Science Division - "This is who we are. This is what we do."

The detailed and precise work performed by the members of the Michigan State Police’s Forensic Science Division provides a foundation for justice, be it a conviction or exoneration.

“Television has glamorized the images of forensic scientists,” said Jeff Nye, director of the Michigan State Police (MSP) Forensic Science Division (FSD).  “This video is one way we are showing our customers our role in the criminal justice community, our ideals and the professionals who are responsible for performing very specific analyses of forensic evidence here in our state.”

Division leaders were intentional with branding to make it clear who they are and what they do. A new video showcasing actual MSP FSD employees supports that effort.

The “We are” concept utilizes real employees - technicians, scientists, examiners, and support staff – narrating how they provide the best customer service experience with each interaction.

“We have a diverse mix of members, with unique skill sets and expertise, from all walks of life similar to the communities we serve,” said Nye. “It is important our customers see and hear that and know we are focused on building a Michigan where everyone feels safe and secure.”

Message Makers, who produced the video, submitted the project for a Telly Award, and was named a Silver Winner in the Branded Content; General – Corporate Image category. The Telly Awards annually feature the best work created within television and across video, for all screens, with entries from all 50 states and five continents.

In the future, the FSD hopes to create a series of similar videos to focus on the technologies and methodologies within each discipline.
