Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE)
There are more than 3,000 children in Michigan waiting for their forever homes each year.
The Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) is a statewide information and referral service for families interested in adopting children from foster care, as well as for adoption workers seeking homes for children. The MARE website provides listings of children in Michigan who are waiting for adoption and of families interested in adopting children with special needs or unique circumstances.

Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.)
The Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.) supports families formed through foster care, kinship care, guardianship, and adoption. C.A.S.E. is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the well‑being and long‑term stability of children and families.
C.A.S.E. provides adoption‑competent mental health services, trains a nationwide network of professionals, and contributes to the field through research and advocacy. Information about their services can be found on their website.
Adoption Navigators
In 2011, the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) introduced Adoption Navigators—experienced adoptive parents who support families exploring adoption. Adoption Navigators have extensive parenting and adoption experience, attend community events, and help families find resources and advocate for themselves.
This service is free and optional for families seeking information through MARE. For additional information, visit the MARE website.
Post Adoption Centers
Post Adoption Resource Centers support individuals under the age of 21 who were adopted in Michigan, as well as their families. These centers offer support, education, training, and additional services to help families navigate post‑adoption needs.

Resources for potential adoptive families
Adopt US Kids
AdoptUSKids educates families about foster care and adoption and provides child welfare professionals with information and support to strengthen their services. The organization assists families throughout the adoption process and offers a wide range of resources for caseworkers and agency leaders.
AdoptUSKids also leads a national public service campaign to raise awareness about adopting from foster care. Now in its sixteenth year, the campaign highlights the many reasons to consider adopting a teenager.

Spaulding for Children
Spaulding for Children is a private, nonprofit adoption agency committed to finding families for children in the child welfare system. This includes older youth, children of color, siblings who need to stay together, and children with disabilities or other challenges.
Spaulding for Children provides a range of services for families, including matching and placement support, case management, home‑based visitation, education and training, support groups, information and referral services, and opportunities to participate in agency‑sponsored activities.

MARE For Families
The Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) provides information and guidance for families interested in adoption. Adoption Competency
The Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) program is a leading certificate initiative designed to strengthen mental health practitioners’ skills in adoption‑competent practice. Through in‑person and virtual classes, along with clinical case consultations, TAC participants develop essential clinical abilities to support adopted children and their foster, adoptive, and kinship families.
Since 1998, the Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.) has trained more than 30,000 professionals across 43 states and territories.
