Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE)
There are more than 3,000 children in Michigan waiting for their forever homes each year.
The Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) is a statewide information and referral service for families interested in adopting children from foster care, as well as for adoption workers seeking homes for children. The MARE website provides listings of children in Michigan who are waiting for adoption and of families interested in adopting children with special needs or unique circumstances.

Post Adoption Centers
Post Adoption Resource Centers support individuals under the age of 21 who were adopted in Michigan, as well as their families.
These centers offer support, education, training, and additional services to help families navigate post‑adoption needs.

Spaulding for Children
Spaulding for Children is a private, nonprofit adoption agency committed to finding families for children in the child welfare system and provides services including:
- matching and placement support
- case management
- education and training
- support groups
Spaulding provides training, family support, and adoption education materials.

C.A.S.E. National Training Institute
The Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.) provides national training for professionals who work with foster, adoptive, and kinship families. Their National Training Institute is built on more than 25 years of clinical experience and is recognized for strengthening the child welfare and mental health workforce.
C.A.S.E. offers evidence‑based, trauma‑informed, and accredited programs that support both foundational learning and advanced clinical skills. Signature programs include:
- Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) – a comprehensive certificate program for mental health professionals
- W.I.S.E. Up!® - tools that help children and youth respond to questions about adoption
- Beneath the Mask – resources focused on understanding the emotional needs of adopted children and teens

Adoption Competency
The Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) program is a leading certificate initiative designed to strengthen mental health practitioners’ skills in adoption‑competent practice. Through in‑person and virtual classes, along with clinical case consultations, TAC participants develop essential clinical abilities to support adopted children and their foster, adoptive, and kinship families.
Since 1998, the Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.) has trained more than 30,000 professionals across 43 states and territories.
