Clyde Road Landfill (Ionia, Ionia County)
Clyde Road Landfill is located at 2076 Clyde Road and is an old landfill that was closed in the 1980s. The landfill was operated by multiple private owners during its operation. According to several witnesses the site was used for disposal of industrial waste following the closing of the Ionia City Landfill. Drums of industrial waste from area manufacturers were disposed of in waste cells at the property. A neighboring well was documented to be impacted by Volatile Organic Compounds in 1986 and replaced in 1988. Based on this history of waste and impacted neighboring well EGLE determined additional investigation should be completed.
EGLE sampled seven groundwater monitoring wells at the site in March 2025. PFOA exceeded criteria in two of the wells, the highest of which had 25 ppt (compared to 8 ppt). The nearest major waterbody is the Grand River, a little over a mile away.

Drinking water information
EGLE, DHHS, and local health have reviewed residential well logs and developed a plan to sample nearby drinking water wells. Identified well owner(s) received a letter in the mail requesting access to sample drinking water. EGLE sampled five drinking water wells in mid-June 2025 and all were non-detect.
