- Approval of Proposed Minutes of the April 27, 2026, Meeting
- Motion made by Commissioner Blaskiewicz and supported by Commissioner Stoudemire to approve the draft minutes of the commission’s April 27, 2025, School District meeting. The commission approved the minutes as presented.
- Executive Director’s Report
- Patrick Dostine, Executive Director, informed the meeting that in reviewing the monthly financial reports for DPS and DPSCD, for the month ending March 31, 2026, the School District continues to pay its debt obligations, remains in compliance, and there is no reason to consider rescinding the waivers at this time.
- He further stated that the district’s financial report this month notes that DPSCD’s FY26 budget projects a balanced budget for the 10th consecutive year. The district is anticipating a surplus of $78M.
- He also noted that CFO Vidito reported at the April committee of the whole that the district has served an additional 120,000 meals this school year. That has led to additional revenue ($1.3M) but purchased food service costs are up. The CFO said that there is still a slight deficit in the food service fund.
- The school board will have its first public review of the FY27 budget at the May 21 committee of the whole meeting. Then on June 16 a public hearing is scheduled for the budget to be followed by the school board meeting. The budget will be on the agenda for adoption. The district will forward the adopted budget to the financial review commission.
- The state house, senate and governor’s FY27 education budget proposals are consistent. CFO Vidito told the April committee of the whole that he doesn’t think the district will have to wait until October for an adopted budget. Page 31 in the district’s report this month shows the estimated additional revenue the district could receive under each proposal.
