County Prosecutor Grant
Purpose:
The purpose of the grant program is to award funding to eligible offices of the county prosecutors with the highest crime count, to reduce the average caseload per attorney.
Eligibility:
The county must be 1 of the 15 counties with the highest violent crime rate per 1,000 residents as determined for each county.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Submission of a completed application.
- Proposed budget detailing how grant funds will be used to support costs to reduce the average caseload per attorney.
Application Period:
Application will be emailed to qualifying counties by the end of March 2026.
FY 2025 Appropriation Amount Available:
$16,750,000 in funding will be available for the Michigan Department of Treasury to award to the top 15 counties based on 2023 crime data provided by the Michigan Department of State Police. Award amounts are pursuant to 2025 Public Act 22.
FY 2026 Appropriation Amount Available:
$17 million in funding will be available for the Michigan Department of Treasury to award to the top 15 counties based on 2024 crime data provided by the Michigan Department of State Police. Award amounts are pursuant to 2025 Public Act 22.
