Michigan Treasury eServices to Expand Nov. 12
October 30, 2026
Individuals and businesses urged to prepare for changes and temporary service interruptions
The Michigan Department of Treasury today announced that online tax services will be expanding mid-November, giving more taxpayers, businesses and tax professionals a way to file returns, make payments and manage tax accounts through Michigan Treasury eServices.
The expansion will bring additional taxes into the platform, including City income taxes, Marijuana taxes, Motor Fuel Tax, Tobacco Tax and the state's 9-1-1 program.
The changes are part of Treasury's ongoing effort to modernize its tax systems and make it easier and more secure for taxpayers to do business with the state. The platform includes separate online portals for individuals and businesses.
“Taxpayers will have access to expanded services through Michigan Treasury eServices beginning in mid‑November,” said Kavita Kale, who leads Treasury’s Revenue Services programs. “We encourage all users to be aware of the upcoming changes and prepare accordingly. Treasury is working closely with tax professionals and partner organizations to share the latest information regarding this transition. We apologize for any inconvenience that may occur while systems and call centers are temporarily unavailable.”
What is changing?
Beginning Nov. 12, Michigan Treasury eServices will offer new or expanded services for several tax types and programs:
- Businesses and individuals will be able to use the platform to manage Treasury-administered City income taxes, Wholesale Marijuana Tax, Marijuana Retailers Excise Tax, Motor Fuel Tax, Tobacco Tax and 9-1-1 accounts.
- City of Detroit taxpayers and businesses will now have full online services, including filing, paying and business registration.
- Wholesale Marijuana Taxpayers will gain access to additional services beyond payments, including online filing.
- Marijuana retailers and bulk filers for City Employer Withholding Tax will move from Michigan Treasury Online to the new platform.
- The Michigan Motor Fuel and Tobacco Tax System, known as MiMATS, will merge into the new platform.
Other tax services—including sales, use and withholding tax filing through Michigan Treasury Online, known as MTO—will remain in their current systems.
Temporary call center closures, web platform interruptions
Some Treasury call centers will be unavailable in early November as the department prepares for the transition. Treasury is taking steps to ensure that services resume as quickly and smoothly as possible. Certain phone services will have limited availability on Nov. 2.
Call center closures include:
- Business taxes call centers will be closed Nov. 4–5.
- Individual Income Tax call centers will be closed Nov. 5–6.
- Call centers for City income taxes, Marijuana taxes, Motor Fuel and Tobacco taxes, and miscellaneous taxes and fees will be closed Nov. 4–6.
- Collections call centers will also offer limited services Nov. 4–6.
Additionally, several of Treasury’s web platforms will experience outages beginning at 5 p.m. on Oct. 30. Outage details for each system are available on Treasury’s Web Platform Impacts web page.
Taxpayers are encouraged to review filing deadlines, complete any transactions needed ahead of these dates and plan accordingly. Treasury appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while these temporary updates are completed.
