Governor Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions
LANSING, Mich. - Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the following appointments to the Michigan Athletic Trainer Board, Community Action and Economic Opportunity, Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals, Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors, Michigan Wildlife Council, and the Early Childhood Investment Corporation Executive Committee.
Michigan Athletic Trainer Board
Kimberly M. Collier, of Riverview, is the supervisor for athletic training at Henry Ford Health System. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Slippery Rock University and a Master of Science in Athletic Training from University of Kentucky. Mrs. Collier is appointed to represent athletic trainers for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring June 30, 2025. She succeeds Daniel Tinkey whose term expired June 30, 2021.
James K. Winkler, Jr., of Allendale, is a senior staff athletic trainer at Grand Valley State University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Fitness Management and a Master of Science in Exercise Science from Northern Michigan University. Mr. Winkler is reappointed to represent athletic trainers for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring June 30, 2025.
The Michigan Board of Athletic Trainers works with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to oversee the practice of approximately 1,028 athletic trainers. The practice of athletic training, as defined in the Public Health Code, means the treatment of an individual for risk management and injury prevention, the clinical evaluation and assessment of an individual for an injury or illness, the immediate care and treatment of an individual for an injury or illness, and the rehabilitation and reconditioning of an individual's injury or illness.

Community Action and Economic Opportunity
Shamayim Harris, of Highland Park, is the founder of The Avalon Village, a non-profit community organization. Miss Harris is appointed to represent low-income persons for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring June 21, 2024. She succeeds Jessica Taylor whose term expired June 21, 2021.
Justin D. Hodge, of Ypsilanti, is a county commissioner for Washtenaw County and a clinical assistant professor of social work at the University of Michigan. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Asian Studies and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. Commissioner Hodge is appointed to represent elected public officials for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring June 21, 2024. He succeeds Bob Scolnik whose term expired June 21, 2021.
Ashley L. Slack, of Watervliet, is an operations manager at Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing Studies from Western Michigan University. Mrs. Slack is appointed to represent community action agencies for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring June 21, 2024. She succeeds Matthew Purcell whose term expired June 21, 2021.
Ravi Yalamanchi, of Rochester Hills, is the president of INFIN, Inc. and the CEO of the Plymouth Housing Commission. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Sciences from Osmania University, a Master of Arts in International Trade from Eastern Michigan University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Mr. Yalamanchi is appointed to represent the private sector for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring June 21, 2024. He succeeds Luke Shaefer whose term expired June 21, 2021.
The Commission on Community Action and Economic Opportunity was created to provide opportunity for low-income persons to actively participate in the development of policies and programs to reduce poverty and serves as a statewide forum to address the needs and concerns of low-income people in the state of Michigan.

Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals
Kim Dennison, of Laingsburg, is an occupational health nurse for the Michigan Laborers' Training and Apprenticeship Institute and an instructor and the owner of Absolute Learning Success, LLC. She holds an Associate of Applied Sciences in Nursing from Lansing Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, and a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina. Ms. Dennison is reappointed to represent labor in the health industry for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring March 18, 2025.
Todd Doenitz, of Plymouth, is the director of trade labor for Barton Malow Company. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Mr. Doenitz is appointed to represent management in the construction industry for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring March 18, 2025. He succeeds Daniel Kazakiewicz whose term expired March 18, 2021.
The Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals reviews all contested Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) cases involving safety and health citations, orders, and appeals. The Board may order testimony at hearings, compel witnesses or require depositions, and further promulgates rules of procedure for hearings, maintaining consistency with any federal occupation safety or health standard.

Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors
Charles P. Rothstein, of Farmington Hills, is the founder and senior managing director of Beringea, LLC, a growth equity investment firm. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Mr. Rothstein is reappointed to represent a member from the private sector with experience in private equity or venture capital investments for a term commencing August 1, 2021 and expiring July 31, 2025.
Susan Tellier, of Caledonia, is the president of JetCo Packaging Solutions and a member of the Small Business Association of Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs Management from Michigan State University and Graduate Certificate in Economic Development from Wayne State University. Ms. Tellier is reappointed to represent a member from the private sector for a term commencing August 1, 2021 and expiring July 31, 2025.
The Michigan Strategic Fund Board of Directors was created by Executive Order No. 2019-13. The Board's responsibilities include approval of the use of private activity bonds, authorizing the submittal by local governments of Community Development Block Grant applications, and approval of Tool and Die Renaissance Recovery Zones.

Michigan Wildlife Council
Franklin Hayes, of West Bloomfield, is the deputy chief for the Detroit Police Department. Mr. Hayes is a life member of the Michigan Trapshooting Association and is a member of the Association's Executive Committee. He attended Michigan State University School of Staff and Command. Mr. Hayes is appointed to represent individuals who have purchased hunting or fishing licenses in this state on a regular basis, including at least once during each of the last 3 years, and who are recommended by a statewide sportsmen's organization. He succeeds Matt Pedigo whose term expired March 31, 2021, and he will serve for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring March 31, 2025.
Brent Pike, of Grand Haven, is the founder of Pyke Gear outdoor apparel brand and a realtor with At Home Realty. Mr. Pike is the president of the Ruffed Grouse Society Lakeshore Chapter. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Western Michigan University. Mr. Pike is appointed to represent local businesses in this state that are substantially impacted by hunting and fishing for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring March 31, 2025. He succeeds Jeffrey Poet whose term expired March 31, 2021.
The Michigan Wildlife Council is entrusted with educating the public about the importance of wildlife conservation and its role in preserving Michigan's great outdoor heritage for future generations.

Early Childhood Investment Corporation Executive Committee
Sonia Acosta, Ph.D., of Bloomfield Hills, is the president and CEO of Centro Multicultural La Familia, Inc. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Universidad Del Noreste, and a Master of Arts and Ph.D. in Psychology from Western Michigan University. Dr. Acosta is appointed for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring July 22, 2025. She succeeds Jennifer Archey whose term expired July 22, 2021.
Ann F. Cameron, of Brimley, is the Head Start director for the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan, Inc and an early childhood education student advisor for Bay Mills Community College. She holds an Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Administration from Bay Mills Community College. Ms. Cameron is appointed for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring July 22, 2023. She succeeds Raeanne Madison who has resigned.
Luanne Ewald, of Royal Oak, is the chief operating officer for the University of Michigan CS Mott Children's Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Marquette University and a Master of Hospital and Health Administration from Xavier University. Ms. Ewald is reappointed for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring July 22, 2025.
Laurie L. Linscott, of East Lansing, is the director of the Michigan State University Child Development Laboratories. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Social Science from Western Michigan University and a Master of Arts in Child Development from Michigan State University. Ms. Linscott is reappointed for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring July 22, 2025.
Sharon Claytor Peters, of Belleville, is the founder and principal of Claytor Peters Consulting, where she consults on children's policy issues, and the former president of CEO of Michigan's Children. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Anthropology from Michigan State University. Ms. Peters is appointed for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring July 22, 2024. She succeeds Leslie Murphy who has resigned.
John R. Severson, Ph.D., of North Muskegon, is the superintendent of Muskegon Area Intermediate School District. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University. Dr. Severson is reappointed for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring July 22, 2025.
Kevin Stotts, of Ada, is the president of Talent 2025 and a member of the Children's Leadership Council of Michigan. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Michigan State University. Mr. Stotts is appointed for a term commencing July 30, 2021 and expiring July 22, 2024. He succeeds Shauna Barbeau who has resigned.
The Early Childhood Investment Corporation was created to be the state's focal point for information and investment in early childhood education in Michigan so that children can arrive at the kindergarten door, safe, healthy, and eager for learning and life. The Investment Corporation was founded in 2005 and charged with implementing a Great Start system for Michigan both at the state level as well as one community at a time.
