Reinstatement

Resident Producer – Reinstatement

A resident producer whose license is suspended or inactive due to lack of continuing education (CE) credits may be reinstated within one (1) year from the CE review date.

If the license has been suspended or inactive less than 90 days from the CE review date, the license will become active when the CE credits are reported to DIFS; a new application is not required.

A licensee can be considered for license reinstatement if the CE is completed and reported to DIFS and an Electronic Resident Licensing (ERL) application and fee are submitted through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) website and received by DIFS within 12 months from the CE review date.

The ERL application fee is $10.00 plus a $5.00 transaction fee.

The ERL application is valid for 180 days from entry into our database.

The NIPR “Help” web page includes User Guides and Walk-Throughs as well as a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Index. For additional questions relating to the ERL application submission, contact NIPR Customer Service at 855-674-6477.

Non-Resident Producer – Reinstatement

A non-resident producer must be active in their home state, and can only be licensed in Michigan for the qualifications held in the home state.

Submit an Electronic Non-Resident Licensing (NRL) application and fee through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) website.

The NRL application fee is $10.00 plus a $6.18 transaction fee.

The NRL application is valid for 180 days from entry into our database.

The NIPR “Help” web page includes User Guides and Walk-Throughs as well as a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Index. For additional questions relating to the NRL application submission, contact NIPR Customer Service at 855-674-6477.

Michigan will rely on verification of applicant's resident license through the Producer Licensing Database in lieu of original letter of certification.
