(LANSING, MICH) Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) Director Anita Fox is reminding Michiganders who need health insurance to purchase a Health Insurance Marketplace plan by December 15, 2023 so that their coverage can start January 1, 2024. Michiganders can still enroll until January 15, 2024, but plans selected after December 15 will not provide coverage until February 1, 2024.

“December 15 is the deadline for enrolling in a Marketplace health plan so that it covers you and your family starting January 1, 2024. Open enrollment continues until January 15, 2024, but enrolling by December 15 will ensure you’ll start the New Year with comprehensive, high quality health insurance,” said Director Fox. "Even if you are happy with your current health plan, you should update your application so you make sure you are getting all the savings to which you are entitled. Call DIFS at 877-999-6442, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or visit for more information on getting started.”
