Kathleen Lomako

Kathleen Lomako of Livonia, Michigan, brings to MIC over 40 years of experience working on infrastructure in Southeast Michigan. She is the retired Executive Director of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG). She oversaw a staff of 65 and a budget of $14 million. SEMCOG is a regional planning partnership of 174-member local governments and is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for transportation planning and decision-making in the seven-county Southeast Michigan region. SEMCOG is responsible for planning and intergovernmental problem solving on a variety of multi-community regional issues, including transportation, water quality, air quality, solid waste, land use, community and economic development, and data analysis. She served as Executive Director from 2014 through 2020. Prior to then, she worked at SEMCOG in a variety of planning and administrative positions.

Ms. Lomako also served President of the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition (MAC), a non-profit public/private partnership dedicated to enhancing the economic vitality and quality of life in Southeast Michigan. It is the only group comprised of leaders in business, labor, government, and education who work cooperatively to address regional issues and serve as a catalyst for change. MAC works closely with SEMCOG, its partner organization, and benefits from its expertise, research, data collection, and analysis.

In retirement Ms. Lomako continues to engage in civic affairs. In addition to serving on the Michigan Infrastructure Council she also serves as the Secretary of the Michigan Municipal Services Authority and is a member of the Schoolcraft College Development Authority.
