Scott Whitcomb

Scott has had the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in his blood for a long time, as some of his earliest memories as a child were of the years spent with his family at an isolated research cabin on High Island in Lake Michigan. He formerly worked in the Appalachians of southwest Virginia for the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries before returning to his home state of Michigan.
He is a 28-year veteran of the DNR and has served in Wildlife, Forest Resources, Executive, and Lands and Facilities Divisions during his tenure. His work assignments have included managing the Pigeon River Country State Forest, Senior Policy Advisor, Acting Natural Resources Deputy and Director of the Office of Public Lands.
Currently serving as Acting Chief of Lands and Facilities where he works on a variety of DNR priority areas, including public land strategy and policy, minerals development, real estate, public facing grants programs, dam policy and leveraging Michigan's 4.6 million acres of state land for natural climate solutions.
He holds degrees in Wildlife from Michigan State University and the University of Maine. He is father to 4 adult children and 2 grandchildren. He enjoys international travel and too many hobbies to mention.
