General Conference Information

General information about the Integrated Infrastructure Conference (IIC)

  • The IIC is hosted in partnership by the Michigan Infrastructure Council (MIC), Transportation Asset Management Council (TAMC) and Water Asset Management Council (WAMC).

The IIC was built off the success and tenure of past annual TAMC conferences, expanding the content to cover asset management best practices across the various infrastructure classes and sectors, including transportation, drinking water, wastewater, storm water, energy, and communications, while still holding space for the same sessions featured at past TAMC conferences.
  • The conference is held biennially (every other year).

The conference location is rotated on a regional basis, with our first conference held in Southwest Michigan in 2024, our next event planned for Southeast Michigan in 2026, and an intent to hold the 2028 event in Northern Michigan.

The inaugural conference, held in August 2024 in Grand Rapids, featured around 230 attendees and sessions from more than 50 infrastructure experts.

After initial success, we expanded the capacity to 300 attendees for our upcoming event planned in the southeast region, at School Craft College’s Vistatech Center in Livonia Michigan on September 23rd and 24th, 2026.

  • The Michigan Infrastructure Council, who hosts the Integrated Infrastructure Conference (IIC) in partnership with Michigan’s Transportation Asset Management Council and Water Asset Management Council, was created through Public Act 323 of 2018 and all MIC programs cover the following assets:

Infrastructure assets related to drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, energy, or communications, including, but not limited to, drinking water supply systems, wastewater systems, stormwater systems, drains, roads, bridges, broadband and communication systems, and electricity and natural gas networks

  • The IIC defines assets as infrastructure related to drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, energy, or communications, including, but not limited to, drinking water supply systems, wastewater systems, stormwater systems, drains, roads, bridges, broadband and communication systems, and electricity and natural gas networks

Asset Management is the ongoing process of maintaining, preserving, upgrading, and operating physical assets cost-effectively, based on a continuous physical inventory and condition assessment and investment to achieve performance goals

The IIC covers topics like capital improvement planning, infrastructure’s role in economic development, data collection and management, emerging technology, policy, workforce, funding, and other topics related to these types of infrastructure asset management.

  • The IIC does not directly cover the following fields of “asset management:”

    • IT Asset Management (ITAM) - the practice of tracking and managing an organization's hardware, software, and cloud resources throughout their entire lifecycle
    • Financial Asset Management - the professional practice of investing, monitoring, and growing an individual's or institution's portfolio of assets, including developing personalized strategies across stocks, bonds, and real estate to maximize returns while strictly minimizing risk

If you have more questions about the content the conference covers, check out our agenda for more information on this year’s sessions or reach out to us at tiffany@edgepartnerships.com
