Bob Goodwin is the Senior GIS Analyst at RS&GIS, a geospatial research and outreach services unit at Michigan State University.
Bob graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management in 1994. After short stints as a Forester and Biologist, he returned to MSU for a second degree in Spatial Information Processing. Over the past 28 years he served first as a student intern, then technician and finally analyst for RS&GIS. His additional roles include project manager, lead trainer, uncrewed aerial systems manager and associate director.
Throughout his career, Bob has worked on projects in transportation, asset management, natural resources, healthcare, agriculture, engineering, historic preservation, forestry, archaeology, planning, and economic development.
Bob holds certifications in GIS (GISP) and uncrewed aerial systems (Part 107 RPIC). His extremely varied and practical experiences across numerous industries, which includes more than 20 years of teaching professionals, affords him a unique perspective, which he uses to investigate and solve complex spatial problems.
