Hearings and Taxpayer Advocacy

The Office of Advocacy Services is here to help taxpayers when all other options have been tried. If someone has gone through all the usual steps to fix a tax issue and still needs help, this office steps in as a last resort.

The office also works to protect taxpayer rights and make sure Treasury’s processes are fair. It looks for patterns in problems, helps improve policies, and acts as a go-between for taxpayers and Treasury. Whether the issue comes from an individual, a business, a tax professional, or even an elected official, the office helps research and resolve complex or sensitive cases.
