On October 6, 2008, the “Customer Choice and Electricity Reliability Act”, part of Public Act 286 was enacted. On September 29, 2009, the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) approved procedures dealing with the administration and allocation of electric load allowed to be served by alternative electric suppliers (AESs), under Public Act 286 of 2008 in Case No. U-15801.
Public Act 341 of 2016 amended Public Act 3 of 1939 and Public Act 286 of 2008. The procedures were updated pursuant to Public Act 341 and are available in Appendix A of the final order dated April 28, 2017 in Case No. U-15801.
U-15801 requires utilities to make available on their Web sites an electric choice cap tracking system that allows customers to check on the status of the program. The link for each utilities cap tracking data can be found below:
