Public Engagement

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) seeks to engage with Michigan residents and provide information regarding its work through its outreach, education, and engagement efforts.  The Commission hopes that this work will expand opportunities for informed, meaningful participation by members of the public in Commission activities and its decision-making processes.

We encourage you to use the webpage to:

  • Learn more about our outreach and engagement goals and initiatives, including the MPSC’s Community Partner Network and the Commission’s Public Participation Framework.
  • Connect with our team of community liaisons.
  • Find information about open cases of significant public interest.
  • Request attendance of an MPSC representative at your event or speaking engagement.
  • Access information on consumer resources.

MPSC Community Liaisons

The MPSC’s Community Liaisons seek to connect the Commission with local communities.  They work with Community Based Organizations and Community Members in their respective regions to bring the Commission closer to communities through participation in local outreach events and opportunities. Community Liaisons also work to build the Commission’s Community Partner Network.

To connect with your Community Liaison, email LARA-MPSC-external-affairs@michigan.gov.

The MPSC's Community Partner Network

The MPSC’s Community Partner Network (CPN) exists to build relationships between the MPSC and communities throughout Michigan. This will be achieved through meaningful collaboration between community organizations and MPSC Community Liaisons, jointly identifying opportunities for impactful engagement, and working together to build understanding of the Commission’s role and how it can help address the needs of the community.

The MPSC Community Partners help the Commission reach their communities to provide information about:

  • The role of the MPSC and what it does to serve Michigan residents.
  • Michigan’s energy assistance, consumer protections, and energy efficiency programs.
  • Home energy tips and ways to save on utility costs.
  • Safety issues regarding a customer's utility service.

In return, we offer Community Partners access to a variety of MPSC resources, including:

  • Event assistance.
  • Monthly Community Partner updates.
  • Regular networking opportunities.
  • Regular opportunities to hear from MPSC Commissioners and Staff.
  • Dedicated resource support.

If you are interested in learning more about becoming an MPSC Community Partner, e-mail LARA-MPSC-external-affairs@michigan.gov.
