Public Act

Public Act 121 of 2024 requires the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC or Commission) to develop a Renewable Energy and Electrification Infrastructure Enhancement and Development (Renewable Energy EIED) grant program for businesses, nonprofit organizations, units of local and state government and Tribal governments for the purpose of planning, developing, designing, acquiring, or constructing renewable energy and electrification infrastructure projects.

Selection Process

The MPSC released a request for quote for the Renewable Energy EIED Grants on January 21, 2025. Two question and response opportunities followed. In addition, per Public Act 121, the MPSC allowed for a review of all applications for this grant by local units of government, environmental groups, and business interests directly affected by the proposals. The mandated review and comment period was 45 days in length, followed by a 15-day period in which the applicant had the ability to modify their proposal, if desired. To meet this requirement, the MPSC provided an opportunity to view the proposals through this webpage. Comments were submitted through each proposal’s individual page and were available for viewing by the public.

After an extensive review process by the MPSC, 14 projects were selected to receive a grant award. The grant recipients are shown below, along with a linked Notice of Intent to Award document which outlines the scoring of the grants.
