Interconnection Technical Workgroup
Notice: This workgroup will be conducted via teleconference unless otherwise noted. Please find remote access information for upcoming meetings on our calendar of events.
In its March 13, 2025 Order in Consumers Energy’s interconnection procedures case, MPSC Case No. U-21480, the Commission directed MPSC Staff to convene a workgroup to provide an ongoing forum through which interested parties can discuss technical issues related to the electric utility interconnection process. Initially, the workgroup will focus on annual reporting requirements, cost allocation, the application of standards, and other technical topics.
Actions to Date
The first meeting of this Interconnection Technical Workgroup was held on June 16, 2025. Among other topics, Staff presented and led discussion on a draft annual reporting template for utility interconnection and proposed modifications to the distributed generation reporting format, with the idea that these two reports could be combined into a single effort. Revisions based on input from participants resulted in a finalized version of the reporting template.
Annual Interconnection and Distributed Generation Report Template
The second technical workgroup meeting will be held on December 9, 2025. The second meeting will explore Meter Socket Adapters (MSA) and their application(s) for interconnection within the framework of Michigan utility practices.
