Beth Simonton-Kramer

Chief of Staff, Michigan Veteran Homes

Beth is the Chief of Staff for the Michigan Veteran Homes.

She had been the Operations Specialist at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans since 2017; she also served as Interim Administrator during the summer of 2021.  These roles have provided her with a broad overview of the operation of the home, from project management to policy development to quality improvement.  Beth recently completed the Long-Term Care certificate program at Ferris State University and obtained her Nursing Home Administrator License in February.

Beth has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bradley University and a juris doctor from WMU Thomas M. Cooley Law School.  Before joining the Michigan Veteran Homes, Beth had a private law practice and worked as adjunct faculty at Cooley.  Prior to heading to law school, Beth worked as a budget analyst and then as accounting manager in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Beth has a strong sense of service to our veterans.  Although she did not serve in the military, her father and several other family members did.  A bit of trivia: Beth’s first job after college was working at the Pentagon for the Department of the Navy. Her department’s windows looked out over Arlington Cemetery, and having that poignant view every day contributed to her feelings of gratitude for our service members. She feels fortunate to be in a position to give something back to the men and women who have served.
