Karin Hopman, Rockford

Karin Hopman is Recorder and Finance Director at the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 951 (UFCW 951) and serves as Treasurer of the UFCW 951 Foundation.

She graduated from Calvin College with an accounting degree and later went on to earn her MBA from Western Michigan University in 2013.

In her work at UFCW 951, Hopman manages the day-to-day business of the organization including the accounting, business and membership records departments. She is responsible for administering contract ratifications, elections and executive board proceedings for the local. Hopman also advocates for better wages and stronger safety measures on the job for women and all workers in the food and commercial industries. She regularly works with members, seeking to identify and resolve issues in their workplace. Her involvement in the collective bargaining process between the organization and major retail companies like Meijer and Kroger has allowed Hopman to keep her thumb on the pulse of working families in Michigan.

Hopman was appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan Women's Commission in 2021.

She lives in Rockford and has two daughters attending Michigan State University.
