Michigan Youth Challenge Academy Wins Tri-State Competition Championship

LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Youth Challenge Academy (MYCA), which hosted a tri-state competition with the Hoosier Youth Challenge Academy (HYCA) and the Bluegrass Youth Challenge Academy (BYCA) from April 23-25 at Marshall Public Schools in Marshall, MI, won the 2025 Tri-State Competition Championship with a final tally of 200 points. The BYCA finished in second place with 160 points, followed by the HYCA with 135 points. 

Approximately 170 cadets from Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky gathered to compete in a variety of events including basketball, softball, volleyball, track, flag football, chess, cornhole and a spelling bee. The event has been a tradition between academies to help promote competency development, offering cadets an opportunity to participate in mental and physical challenges and grow their teamwork and leadership skills. Last cycle the competition was held in Indiana where the overall winner was MYCA with BYCA as the runner-up. The MYCA is based at the Battle Creek VA campus in Battle Creek, MI. The HYCA is based in Knightstown, IN while the BYCA is based at Fort Knox, KY.
