915 Fowler Street has been used for various industrial practices since at least 1972, including plating, annealing, and car part cleaning and treatment. EGLE received a baseline environmental assessment (BEA) that contained groundwater data from a temporary monitoring well that had PFOA as high as 10 ppt (compared to 8 ppt). A BEA allows a potential purchaser to buy property without being liable for existing contamination.
Local groundwater flows southerly towards the Marion-Genoa Drain. Marion and Genoa Drain is located ~0.3 miles southeast of the site. Thompson Lake is located ~0.65 miles northeast.

EGLE, MDHHS, and local health have reviewed residential well logs and determined that all downgradient residents are either on municipal water or have been sampled as part of another site investigation.
