42200 Joy Road was historically used as a plating facility. A Baseline Environmental Assessment (BEA) contained data showing that this site had PFAS above criteria in one groundwater monitoring well. The highest concentration was 17 ppt PFOA (compared to 8 ppt). A BEA allows a potential purchaser to buy property without being liable for existing contamination.
Groundwater flow appears to be to the south/southwest. The South Branch Tonquish Creek is located ~0.25 miles west of the site.

EGLE, DHHS, and local health have reviewed residential well logs and identified two nearby drinking water wells. Identified well owner(s) will receive a letter in the mail requesting access to sample drinking water.
