Michigan Technical Assistance Center Empowers Communities to Secure Federal Infrastructure Funding
Technical Assistance Center opens fourth window for Michigan communities to apply for grants to improve critical infrastructure
LANSING, Mich.— President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) offer billions in federal infrastructure grants, and the Michigan Infrastructure Office (MIO) Technical Assistance Center (TAC) is opening its fourth application window to help communities access these funds. The TAC supports local entities in securing federal investments that will have lasting positive impacts on Michigan residents. These grants are aimed at enhancing infrastructure by building safer roads and bridges, improving transit connectivity, and creating resilient systems, all while contributing to the goals of the MI Healthy Climate Plan.
"The Technical Assistance Center is a vital resource for Michigan communities seeking to access federal infrastructure funding," said TAC Director Kris Brady. "We provide comprehensive support, from identifying the right grants to offering technical guidance throughout the application process. By enabling communities to secure these crucial funds, we are helping to build stronger, more resilient infrastructure that will continue to serve Michiganders.”
The fourth application window will remain open from Thursday, July 11 to Thursday, July 25 at 11:59 p.m. The TAC is hosting a live webinar at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16 to help communities better understand technical assistance, the grant opportunities available and the application process. The TAC will also hold office hours at 10 a.m. Monday, July 22 to meet directly with entities interested in applying for funding.
The TAC supports communities in accessing federal funding opportunities by offering technical assistance, planning, and matching grants to local governments, tribal entities, and other eligible organizations. In this application window, the TAC provides consulting services for identifying appropriate grants, grant writing, technical responses such as benefit-cost analysis, and project matching assistance.
“Ensuring Michigan communities have the resources and support they need to access federal infrastructure funding is at the heart of our mission at the Michigan Infrastructure Office,” said Zachary Kolodin, Michigan’s chief infrastructure officer and director of the Michigan Infrastructure Office. “By providing tailored guidance and technical assistance through the TAC, we empower local leaders to pursue projects that enhance safety, connectivity, and sustainability. Our goal is to facilitate infrastructure investments that positively impact residents and prepare our state for future challenges and opportunities.”
