CRA Education Session: Reference Laboratories with the Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency
As cannabis legalization expands, testing labs are vital for ensuring public health through accurate analysis of contaminants, potency, and consistency. However, the current system is fragmented, inconsistent, and influenced by profit and regulatory gaps. Join Claire Patterson, CRA reference laboratory division director, as she explores the ethical and structural shortcomings of cannabis testing, emphasizing the urgent need for independent, state-run regulatory reference laboratories. These labs would act as watchdogs and standardization centers, strengthening transparency, ethics, and oversight. Reforming the culture and infrastructure of cannabis science is key to building a trustworthy, stable, and publicly accepted industry.
