To apply for certification, complete a Lead Professional Certification Application (for inspectors, risk assessors, workers, supervisors, investigators, and designers) or a Lead Abatement Firm Certification Application to become a certified firm. If you do not have a Social Security Number, you can still apply by submitting this additional Social Security Number Affidavit form.
Lead abatement eliminates lead hazards in paint, soil, dust, and sometimes household plumbing. Some lead abatement activities include replacing windows, doors, and other housing components. To perform lead abatement work in Michigan, professionals must hold a Lead Abatement Firm certification. Each firm must employ at least one Lead Abatement Supervisor and as many Lead Abatement Workers as necessary. Project Designers prepare lead abatement project designs, occupant protection plans, and lead abatement reports. In person exam dates:
Morning online exams start at 9:00 AM, but users need to be logged in by 8:45 AM. Afternoon online exams start at 1:00 PM, but users need to be logged in by 12:45 PM. Call 517-284-0021 or email LCCAinfo@michigan.gov to register for an exam and learn additional details about how the exams work.
