Event Type

A student-focused financial aid overview where students and families can learn about college options and college financing resources. Students and families will be able to identify the different types of financial aid programs, along with information about where and how to access financial aid. Suggested for 11th and 12th grade students and their families. Virtual options are available - Virtual platform will be determined based on event coordinator access/needs.

Students will learn financial aid basics and preparing for college in a fun and engaging game of trivia. This activity will equip students with the tools and knowledge necessary to plan financially for college. Students will need to have access to technology through mobile device, Chrome Books, etc. Suggested for 11th and 12th grade students. Virtual options are available - Virtual platform will be determined based on event coordinator access/needs.

In an interactive money management activity, students will learn how to balance a budget using checkbook registers. Students will enter a new dimension with a new career, family situation, responsibilities with the goal of paying all bills with money left over. Suggested for 7th through 12th grade students. Virtual options are available - Virtual platform will be determined based on event coordinator access/needs.

This event will provide high school counselors and college access professionals with information on MI Student Aid resources available, such as: State financial aid programs, navigating the data management system, MiSSG, MI Student Aid Scholarship Search, Social Media, GovDelivery communication, and MI Student Aid Customer Care Center. Through discussion, counselors and college access professionals will share successful strategies, learn about MI Student Aid's regional approach, and how to implement MI Student Aid services into their work with students.

In a TIP Talk, a MI Student Aid representative can meet with your students one-on-one to briefly discuss how they can maximize their use of the program. During these quick 5-10 minute conversations, we will also talk about how the Michigan Achievement Scholarship can help cover college expenses. Your school must have access to the MiSSG High School Counselor Portal for these events to be successful and efficient. Suggested for 12th grade students. Virtual options are available.

MI Student Aid would like to speak to your entire Senior class about the Michigan Achievement Scholarship! This game-changing scholarship program can serve all Michigan students, regardless of household income or GPA. Students will learn about the Community College Guarantee, along with information if they choose to pursue a four-year college or career training program. Suggested for 12th grade students and their families. An auditorium setting is best suited for this presentation due the volume of students. Virtual options are available - Virtual platform will be determined based on event coordinator access/needs.
