On October 5, 2018, the Commission issued orders in Case No. U-18351 and U-18352 directing Commission Staff to engage with stakeholders to examine the potential opportunities and barriers to third-party community energy projects that could be integrated into utility planning and procurement processes. Throughout 2019 four stakeholder meetings were held to educate stakeholders and to obtain the potential barriers and opportunities asked for by the Commission. Staff expects a report summarizing the meetings and the comments of participating stakeholders to be published in September 2019. Staff thanks the participants within the third-party community energy stakeholder group. The staff drafted report summarizing the stakeholder process and listing the results is now out for public comment (see link above for the draft report). Please e-mail any comments to TrachselK@Michigan.gov by 5:00 pm on October 4, 2019. Comments will be reviewed by staff and a final version of the report will subsequently be filed within the U-18351 and U-18352 dockets. All comments will be attached to the final version of the report.
