Electric Transmission Line Siting - Public Act 30 of 1995

Public Act 30 of 1995 granted authority for the siting of many electric transmission lines to the Commission.  For proposed transmission lines that are more than 5 miles long and that transfer electricity at 345 kilovolts or more, the transmission owner must apply for, and receive, a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity from the Commission prior to commencing construction. For most other transmission lines, such a certificate is optional.
