There are two major classes of firefighting foam: Class A and Class B. Class B is also called Aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) and is usually created using PFAS. It is a highly effective foam used for fighting high-hazard flammable liquid fires, like gasoline, oil, and jet fuel.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) uses public health drinking water screening levels, also called Comparison Values, for PFAS to help citizens make personal choices about their drinking water.
These levels are one of many factors used for developing health recommendations for drinking water.
MDHHS recommends everyone in Michigan reduce their exposure to all PFAS when and wherever possible.
