MINUTES

 

  1. Call to Order
    1. Chairman Kevin A. Smith called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m.
  2. Roll Call
    1. Let the record show that five (5) Commission members eligible to vote on matters relating to DPSCD were present. A quorum was present.
  3. Approval of proposed Minutes from the FRC’s May 19, 2025, School District Monthly Meeting
    1. Motion made by Commissioner Barnwell and supported by Commissioner Stoudemire to approve the draft minutes of the Commission’s May 19, 2025, School District Meeting.  The Commission unanimously approved the minutes of the May 19, 2025, meeting as presented.
  4. Executive Director’s Report
    1. Patrick Dostine, Executive Director, informed the meeting that in reviewing the monthly financial reports for DPS and DPSCD, for the month ending April 30, 2025, DPS and DPSCD remain in compliance with all statute relative to their waver statuses. He also informed the meeting that on June 10, the DPSCD school board adopted balanced FY 26 budget for DPS and DPSCD. Both have projected operating surpluses.
    2. The district will amend the budget sometime in the fall after the state adopts its budget and fall enrollment is in.   
    3. In November at the FRC finance meeting for the schools the CFO will go over DPS and DPSCD’s budgets, finances, and operations, 5-year forecast, the facility master plan, etc., in detail in preparation for the commission’s consideration of the school’s sixth consecutive waiver in December.   He noted that Peter McGreevy, executive director in the budget office, was participating in the meeting should the commission have questions about the budget information in the April report.

  7. DPS/DPSCD Financial Report for April 30, 2025 – FYI Only
    1. Executive director, Peter McGreevy gave a detailed overview of above-mentioned financial reports and addressed questions from the commissioners. Jeremy Vidito joined the conversation in progress.

    1. None
  9. Next Meeting Date
    1. School District Regular Meeting: Monday, July 28, 2025, following the City Meeting, beginning no earlier than 1:05 pm, remotely using Microsoft Teams.
  10. Adjournment
    1. Motion made by Commissioner Rose and supported by Commissioner Berry to adjourn. The Commission approved the motion to adjourn.
    2. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 2:20 p.m.
