- Approval of Proposed Minutes from the April 28, 2025, Meeting
- Motion made by commissioner Rose and seconded by commissioner Walsh to approve the draft minutes of the commission’s school district meeting as presented. Motion moved and supported; the commission approved the minutes of the above School District meeting as presented.
- Executive Director’s Report
- Patrick Dostine, Executive Director, reported that DPS and DPSCD remain in good standing with the financial review commission. After reviewing the financial report for the month ending March 2025, Mr. Dostine said DPS and DPSCD remain in compliance with all statute relevant to its waiver.
- Mr. Dostine reported that last Wednesday the superintendent and the CFO presented, among other things, the district’s FY26 budget to the finance committee, which will be presented to the Academic committee on Wednesday June 3, 2025, then to the school board for approval. After board approval, it will be sent to the FRC. The meeting was reminded that the commission does not approve budgets or budget amendments while the district is in active waivers.
- Mr. Dostine said even though the school board will adopt the budget at its June meeting, the district will continue to monitor state budget proposals as well as federal funding for Title II and Title III and prepare a budget amendment for Fall 2025 that includes final State and Federal allocations and the Fall student FTE count.
- Mr. Dostine further reported that the current budget, FY25, is projecting a $36.7M surplus. This will be the district’s 9th consecutive year with a balanced budget, and the FY25 food service budget is projected to have a modest $500K surplus, which is due to more student participation, one-time federal reimbursements, and lower costs for food than projected last spring/summer.
