December 13, 2017 – Commissioner Teri L. Quimby of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission was named one of the 2017 Most Notable Women Lawyers in Michigan by Crain’s Business Detroit this week.

“I am honored to receive this recognition, and to be included in this special group,” said Quimby. “I am firmly committed to good public policy that will enhance Michigan’s economic development environment while protecting the health, safety and welfare of the general public.”

According to Crain’s, the most Notable Women Lawyers in Michigan set legal precedent, navigate the complexities of mergers and acquisitions, manage high-profile cases, win awards, earn promotions, volunteer, teach and mentor.

Appointed in 2011 by Gov. Rick Snyder, Quimby is one of three commissioners with responsibility for administering the provisions of the Michigan Liquor Control Code relating to licensing, purchasing, enforcement, merchandising, and distribution of alcoholic beverages.

As a graduate of Michigan State University's James Madison College and Western Michigan University's Cooley Law School, Quimby has an extensive background in state and local government, has acquired considerable regulatory experience in environmental, utility, commerce issues, and alcoholic beverage issues, and has been licensed to practice law in Michigan and Illinois for over 25 years.  Also, she currently serves on a national board as 2nd Vice-President of the National Conference of State Liquor Administrators.
