MiLEAP Summarily Suspends a Child Care Center License in Emmett County
April 30, 2024
The Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), Child Care Licensing Bureau (CCLB), has summarily suspended and issued a notice of intent to revoke the child care center license of Little Sunflower Daycare Center, located at 7722 US-31 A, in Alanson.
The complaint investigation that concluded on April 24, 2024, found violations of the Child Care Organizations Act and administrative rules, including but not limited to the following:
- Failure to act in a manner that is conducive to the welfare of children
- Failure to provide appropriate care and supervision of children in care
- Failure to maintain the premises in a manner that does not pose a threat to health or safety
- Failure to have the administrative capability to operate a center in a manner that is conducive to the welfare of children
Effective 6:00 p.m., on April 26, 2024, the summary suspension order and notice of intent to revoke prohibits Little Sunflower Daycare Center from operating a child care center at 7722 US-31 A, in Alanson, or at any other address or location. Accordingly, Little Sunflower Daycare Center may not accept children for care after that date and time. The order also requires the licensee to inform all parents of children in care that the license has been suspended and that the center can no longer provide child care.
It was critical to take emergency action to protect the health, welfare, and safety of the children at this group child care home.
